As the maid snatched the doll from her daughter’s hand and handed her a broom.
Childhood knew its time was up.
I like your poem! I think these days children are not enjoying their childhood! There is too much pressure from society for them to grow up and meet deadlines (e.g., kindergarten homework) as well as parental expectations such as thinking that a small child can control their emotions the same way adults can. You will find that a lot of young children suffer from anxiety because they can’t cope with the pace.

Yes, childhood for sure the best period of life but that we find in the adulthood . We will never get the true essence of childhood unless we grow mature.

Now that was not nice of the maid.. 🙂 It opens up a whole chapter of thoughts.. Why was the maid not using the broom?.. Was the child being bullied to do her work? :-D..
Happy New Year to you 🙂

It’s heart wrenching for sure. Your short story is depicting a picture of disparity spread across the world perhaps. Not every child is fortunate enough to enjoy childhood.

This reminded me of my mom’s story, she grew up during the 1930’s and was adopted by a couple in order to serve as their maid. It is astounding the stories women have.
